Home Invasion: Retreat – 23 August 2019 – 05 September 2019
// Vernissage + Opening Performance – 23 August 2019 – 6 pm
For Home Invasion: Retreat Elza Ozolite and Killian Butler will be invading the off-space with a multimedia life collage offering glimpses into visualized and yet deformed knowledge of self-care. Using a fragmented rhetoric of ritualized practices, Butler and Ozolīte make visible the vexed entanglements of 21st century wellness. Framing the performativity of self care their aesthetic-strategy can be traced back to the virtual world. Home Invasion: Retreat creates a fluid, malleable situation that enables a liminoid experience between Retreat and the Grotesque.

Elza Ozolīte is an artist, living and working in Berlin. At the core of her work is the exploration of visual self-imagination. Through veiling and unveiling, deforming and expansion Ozolīte is questioning the body as a transitional state often shaped by notions of symbolism, sacrifice, sensuality, transformation and mutilation. @elizaozolina
